I am associate professor at the chair of History and Theory of Culture, at the University of Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski", as well as associate professor at the chair of European Studies at the same University, and at the chair of Sociology at Paris-10, Nanterre.
I teach a course of cultural anthropology (2d year and masters'); political anthropology (4th year) at HTC; European civilization (1st year and masters') at ES; a course of political anthropology at Paris-10.
My centers of interest have been:
* politics of representation under communism
* gift ethics and modernity
* European enlargement, political culture and the legitimating strategies of the new East European elites
* political uses of culture and national identity.
I have published several collections of essays and short stories, a novel, numerous articles, as well as the monographs: Eroticism of Authorship (Kritika i humanizam, Sofia, 1991); Albanie utopie. Huit-clos dans les Balkans/Albania Utopia. Behind Closed Doors in the Balkans (coeditor and author, Autrement, Paris, 1996); Donner sans perdre. L'echange dans l'imaginaire de la modernite/To Give Without Loosing.
